My 1st ever Marathon!

I went for my first marathon last night - Adidas Sundown Marathon (Womans 10km).
I think it was a great experience for me altough things didn't work out well in the beginning...

I had cramp early in the morning. Struggled to go to school and bring the Boys Brigade out for the prize presentation. The ceremony overshot and I rushed home to bathe and have my dinner. Then it started to rain. My first thoughts were, why not I just give up without trying. However, not willing to let my friends down, I took 2 panadols and went to meet Shi and Ling. We took a cab down and met up with 3 other LINGS - Meiling, Qing Ling and Yan Ling.

Ling, Shi and myself

Myself, Qingling, Meiling and Yanling (Nice pose!)

While I was running, I saw another Ling - Seowling. Hahahaha! It was a LING-ful day. I was really happy with myself for completing the race in about 1 h 20 min. And I was glad I found my pacer cum buddy in running - Meiling. We really ran together from the beginning to the end without stopping, except at the water point where we drank some water.

My pacer buddy throughout the race - Meiling!

Throughout the race, I repeatedly told myself that I can do it and it's mind over my body. I know my body has no problem completing the race, but my mind is very weak and prone to give up. So I kept praying and asking God to give me the strength. I think I've conquered my mind. I need to train up my mind further if I want to succeed in life. Even in my own spiritual walk, I need my mind to work over my body to get past the boring basics and enter into enjoyment in the presence of God. I can do it!

Do I want to go for another run? Probably if there are friends going. I'm totally in pain now. Neck, shoulder, torso, quads, knees, feet... everywhere is in pain. I wonder how long it'll take for the pain to subside. I even had an abrasion on my waist due to my shorts. Will I overcome my pain and go for another one. I think I will.

And here's my medal and my number tag!

Walking long distances...

I've been walking for long distances and duration lately.

Saturday: Went to Suntec to cut hair with Elaine. We actually walked a lot for the whole day because we were sourcing for the best deal. Walked about 7000+ steps.

Sunday after service: I went to Millenia Walk and Suntec with Shi to collect our Sundown Marathon race pack. Then we walked around to find something nice for dinner. Along the way, Shi accompanied me to look for spectacles, LCD TV and Wii to no avail. We last went into Harris and shopped for MANY hours. I bought 3 books!!! Got to make time to read the books. Walked about 13000+ steps.

Monday: Went to Parkway Popular with Wendi and Leong to search for gifts for our pupils. Shopped around for pretty long hours. Walked about 9000+ steps.

Tuesday: Went to City Plaza with Stella to search for a wedding dress with the theme of 60s. Well, couldn't get anything suitable for wedding but I bought an off-shoulder top which I liked. Walked about 12000+ steps.

Wednesday? Supposed to go AMORE with Wendi and Sin Chieh, but my stomach is not feeling well today and I know my menses is coming!!! So got to change my plans. Probably will go Parkway to buy my spectacles.

I'm already in holiday mood. Lots of things to do and mark but I am not doing them. Hahaha.. I wonder where I got that boldness to heck care from. I can't wait for these few days to pass by quickly.

Sidetrack a bit... I raised my voice at a friend lately. Felt bad since then. Especially after reading her blog. Although she didn't mention that she was writing about me, but I do feel that the person she was angry with is me because she hasn't been talking to me since then too. Till now, I do not know how to face or talk to her. There's a sense of awkwardness between us. Don't feel good at all. I hope this feeling goes away and the friendship is restored.

I am blessed...

A lot of hiccups for NAPFA test today.

1. I didn't give my relief instructions way in advance and thus giving our staff a big problem. The problem came when I wasn't the only one that needs relief and the person who was supposed to relief me was UPA and he didn't let her know. How stress is that??!!

2. I didn't give consent form for those who are staying back to do their test. (It didn't even occur to me that I have to give consent forms) Because of this, it affected those pupils who are staying back, the canteen that prepared more food for today and the teachers down on duty.

3. Someone asked me if breakfast or lunch was provided for those who came to school early to help out... Since when did we provide food??? Actually I don't mind buying drinks for them. But the fact that they asked, tells me that I don't wanna "spoil" them. I feel that some people wants to make things difficult for me.

However, despite the hiccups, I was thankful for those who were tolerant, those who remained nice even though I took up their lesson time and those who organised their classes well. I was also thankful to nice friends out there who encouraged and cheer me up. Thanks everyone. Truly I am blessed.

Now, I pray hard that it will not rain this entire week in the morning. We can't afford to have rain. I couldn't sleep well last night because I was so afraid that it will rain. The minute I woke up from my sleep, I prayed that it will not rain until I fall asleep and wake up again another moment. I'm really tired now. I can't wait for this term to be over! I really need some time to think over what I really want in life. Any openings anywhere?

Random...

I think I'm really too disappointed and stressed at work. Every week I'm going out with my colleagues to drink and be merry on a Monday or Tuesday. I think we all need that break away from school and really have some time out to chill. Other than that, every Saturday I'm out to mark and chill too! I'm going to East Coast for Kangoo Jump later! It's a chill out day with no marking today!!!! I wanna play play play!!!!

Last night I really dragged my feet to CGM. While others TGIF, I really dread Friday. Just that yesterday I didn't have CCA. So my day wasn't as bad as previous weeks. Went for lunch with colleagues and then rushed out to meet another friend for a drink (tea-non-alcoholic). Then I went to popular to walk around and took a train home. Fell asleep on the floor when I reached home and pulled myself up to bathe and cooked instant noodles for dinner. Then the most dreaded part came - I stood all the way on the train from Aljunied to Sembawang. Very tiring.

But I was glad that I went. Although the message was simple last night, God brought me back to how He has always worked in my life even when I refused to talk to Him. I realised that every period of my life I have an "angel" beside me to encourage and cheer me on. Just that as much as I had sensed His intervention and blessings, I could not bring myself to be fully convinced that He is for me.

A few months ago, I was all ready to be serious and get back to His presence. I wrote a few prayers on the prayer booklet that the church gave, all ready to get back on my feet. The sad thing was after praying for one or two days, my prayers not only didn't come true but turned for the worst. I was really angry and disappointed. Isn't prayers supposed to work? Why did it work the opposite way? I had a talk with the person that I prayed for and sensed the same frustrations and disappointment. Since then, I wavered at my faith. I really feel tired travelling long distances, going the extramile, doing more and yet not getting anything back in return. At work, similar things happened. Worked hard but maybe to others, not hard enough, falling short of expectations and got nothing back except frustrations.

So yesterday, I realised that He has never forsaken me. At this point, He has sent Krystin to help me at work. I shouldn't be calculative about what I do. Nowadays, I would compare the amount of work I'm doing with my peers and get very upset with the lesser work done by others. What I am doing, I do unto the Lord. God will reward me in due season. So I MUST cheer up. Do what I can and what I think is good for others. Whether others will do the same for me, I shouldn't expect too much. The joy of the Lord is my strength!

I'm still on the recovery road back to His glory. I hope I can be the "sunshine girl" that I used to be. Being happy and bringing joy to others. I must control my bad comments and prejudice towards others. No more complaints about other people!

I WILL BE HAPPY! I AM HAPPY!

Getting fatter..

This was what I've been eating lately.. So fattening. But someone else shared the fats with me. So not so bad. HaHaHa! I'm really getting fatter. Must find a sport that can help me sustain my interest and burn fats at the same time.
